Tiger’s Eye is a metamorphic variety of quartz (SiO₂) formed when crocidolite fibers are gradually replaced by silica while retaining the fibrous structure. This process, combined with iron oxide staining, creates the characteristic golden-brown bands and shimmering optical effect known as chatoyance. For keychains, the rough material is refined through the tumbling process: stones are rotated in barrels with abrasives and water, smoothing rough edges, rounding forms, and enhancing the natural polish and luster.
